    The Family Tree

    Materials: construction paper, photos of child and family or people cut from magazines, scissors, glue.

    Directions: Be sure to let parents know that the photos will be cut and glued for a project.

    • Cut out a tree shape from construction paper. Glue to contrasting color.

    • On low branch on left side of trunk, glue photos of mother’s parents.

    • On low branch right side, glue father’s parents.

    • On branch above (left side), glue mother.

    • Right side glue father.

    • On branches above mother and father, glue child and bothers and sisters.

    • Older children may want to add aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Apple Stamping

    Materials: small apples, thick poster paint, shallow dishes, white paper.

    Directions: Thicken poster paint with small amount of laundry detergent.

    • Cut an apple across the middle to reveal the star. Also cut in quarters.

    • Dip the apple into paint; press onto paper.

    • Use separate apples for each color.

    • Try stamping with other fruits and vegetables.

    Vegetable Soup

    Materials: large pot, vegetables, olive oil, beef stock, soft tortillas or French bread.

    Directions: Children each bring a vegetable to add to soup.

    • Chop the vegetables in small pieces.

    • Saute the vegetables first, then add the beef stock and season to taste. Don’t over salt.

    • Serve with tortillas or French bread for a delicious lunch.
