The Reading Connection is pleased to receive funding from ExxonMobil to hire a summer intern for the office. Each summer, ExxonMobil provides 60 local nonprofit agencies with grants designated to hire college interns for eight weeks. Students are introduced to nonprofit social, cultural and health service organizations in the hope that they will consider careers or volunteer leadership positions in the nonprofit sector. This program provides the agencies with much-needed help and gives students the opportunity to learn more about nonprofit careers.
In addition to working at the nonprofit agencies, interns attend two summer training sessions together. Topics include: nonprofit careers, diversity, communication skills and team building. Students also participate in a community service project as a group.
