The Fannie Mae Foundation's Help the Homeless program is a community wide fund-raising campaign that supports leading nonprofit organizations such as The Reading Connection in the fight to end homelessness. The program spans several months, involves many events and fund-raising activities, and culminates in a National Mall Walkathon in November involving tens of thousands of participants. Once a modest, local walk, the Help the Homeless program has grown into the nation's largest fund-raising event benefiting the homeless. Since 1988, the Fannie Mae Foundation's Help the Homeless program has raised more than $40 million for 220-plus homeless service providers in the Greater Washington area.
By joining the Walkathon, urging others to participate, and recruiting Help the Homeless sponsors, you can raise money for The Reading Connection and awareness about homelessness issues. Preregister online ($25 adult/$15 youth, age 25 and under) at http://www.helpthehomelessdc.org. Be sure to direct your registration fee to The Reading Connection!
